Although there is much discussion about expungements, the law does allow a far better alternative: dismissal of the conviction. This is never a guarantee, but it is certainly a mechanism in the legal process that would be foolish not to utilize and attempt to have your record wiped clean.

There are exceptions to this statement, but generally, any conviction dismissed pursuant to California Penal Code section 1203.4 allows the previous defendant to legally state they have no convictions on their record.

Again, the exceptions to this statement need be discussed with an attorney with a working knowledge of the issue.

To quote Albert Einstein, "A little knowledge is a dangerous thing."

The truth of this statement highlights the need for proper guidance as to what is actually occurring when you have a conviction dismissed pursuant to Penal Code §1203.4.
